The main functions of a DBA are the following: Database back up and recovery, database security, replicate data, transfer data, monitor database performance, maintenance database and ensure availability for its users and control permissions to database users.

SQL was first introduced as a commercial database system by Oracle Corporation in 1979. Both database management systems are known because of their effectiveness.
